Dr. Jan Birchfield
Founder, Advisor, & Assessment Leader
Jan co-founded the Center for Advanced Emotional Intelligence in 1995 and served as the Senior Partner for eleven years. In 2011 Jan moved to Taos, New Mexico and founded Contemplative Leadership Development so that she could extend her work into a retreat setting.
Jan has a passion for working with those who wish to revitalize or who have an interest in increasing emotional intelligence. Jan lectures and writes for audiences in corporate and academic settings. Jan recently published a book titled Silent Leaders. She is a blogger for the Huffington Post and writes articles on leadership for Forbes Magazine.
Jan earned her undergraduate degree in philosophy from the College of Wooster and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Fordham University. She began her career in the field of international affairs. She worked for some time in the field of mental health, specializing in the area of trauma.
Jan has two children and two grandchildren and presently resides in Taos, New Mexico.
